About the Role

We are seeking a Backend Software Engineer to join our stream-aligned feature team. This team is responsible for delivering new product capabilities through 6-week Shape Up cycles, focusing on API design, data modeling, deployment, and observability. You will play a key role in designing, building, and deploying backend services that power Bloomfield’s platform.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement scalable APIs and backend services to support new product features.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers on API design and data modeling to deliver customer-facing experiences.
• Integrate with compute and data platforms to enable efficient processing of imagery and sensor data.
• Deploy and monitor backend services, ensuring reliability and observability.
• Contribute to the team’s technical growth, sharing knowledge and best practices.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience in backend or infrastructure engineering.
• Proficiency in Python and experience working with backend frameworks.
• Experience with AWS services (e.g., ECS, S3, Lambda, Redshift).
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Understanding of containerization (Docker) and Linux environments.
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TLS/HTTPS).

Bonus Points:

• Experience with FastAPI and SQLAlchemy.
• Familiarity with Go or JavaScript/TypeScript & React.
• Experience with computer vision or machine learning infrastructure.
• Knowledge of AgTech or precision agriculture.
